Zach Gadawski - December 14, 2006
Zach Gadawski is a 17-year-old grade 12 student at Brantford Collegiate Institute who excels in the sport of track and field. He has been involved in track since elementary school and runs with the Brantford Track and Field Club.
Zach placed 5th in the 100m hurdles at the OFSAA Track and Field Championships in 2003/04, 2004/05 and 2005/06. He placed 4th at the 2005/06 Provincial Indoor Track Championships in the 60m hurdles and qualified for the Canadian Junior National Track Championships in the 110m hurdles, but unfortunately couldn’t participate due to an illness.
Zach played rugby in grades 9 and 10 and helped his team finish in 1st place at the 2003/04 All Ontario Barbarian Cup Midget Boys Rugby finals. In 2004/05 he again helped his team finish in first place at the All Ontario Barbarian Cup Junior Boys Rugby finals.
Zach has been involved in football since grade 9; he was the Most Improved Player in 2003/04, he helped his team win the 2004/05 BCSAA Junior Football Championships, and won the MVP and Most Valuable Running Back Awards. He went to the 2004/05 Ontario Championships for Bisons Football and won the Offensive MVP award.
In 2005/06 he received the senior boys football defensive Player of the Year Award, and in 2006 was team captain of the senior boys football team and lead the team in tackles.
Zach is a hardworking and dedicated student who maintains a 77% average.
He was recognized for his athletic achievements in grade 9 and 10 with the Male Athlete of the Year Award.
Zach hopes to make the Canadian Junior National track team, and plans to continue his education at the University level. Several US schools have already contacted him offering a track scholarship.
