Stacie Wood - June 26, 2008
Stacie Wood is a seventeen-year-old recent graduate of Brantford Collegiate Institute who participated in the Laurier program and excels in the sport of gymnastics.
She has been actively involved in gymnastics for the past 9 years and has been at the national level for 6 years. She trains 25 hours a week at the Burlington Gymnastics Club and competes in the national open category.
Stacie’s most recent accomplishments include qualifying for the Ontario tour team that traveled to Florida in January. She was 1st on bars at Elite Ontario and competed at the Eastern Canadian Championships held in Longeuil, Quebec in May where she placed 5th on vault, 1st on bars, 1st on beam, 1st on floor and was 1st overall. Stacie helped Team Ontario win the team award at the Eastern Canadian Championships.
Stacie represented Ontario at the 2006 and 2007 Nationals, and she qualified for two other Team Ontario tour competitions that traveled to Texas and Las Vegas.
She also enjoys helping to coach younger athletes sharing her experiences and expertise in the sport of gymnastics.
Stacie was a dedicated and hardworking honor roll student at BCI achieving a 90% average and was a member of her school’s Activism Club. She will be attending Eastern Michigan University on a full gymnastics scholarship this fall and plans to study biology.
