Simon Jones - January 7, 2010
Simon Jones is a thirteen year old grade 8 student from Prince Charles Public School who is actively involved in several sports. In grades 5 and 6 he was a member of the baseball, volleyball, track and field, basketball, and cross country teams. In grades 7 and 8 he was a member of the track and field, badminton, basketball, volleyball, and soccer teams at his school.
Simon played Timbits soccer in 2004 and Brantford Youth Soccer in 2006; he participated in Brantford Minor Baseball in 2007 and 2008; he played ball hockey with Ball Hockey International in 2009 and helped his team go to the finals.
He has received several individual and team awards including the Prince Charles Junior Boys Division Track and Field Championships in 2007. He was 1st in three events, 2nd in two events, 3rd in two events and finished 3rd in the 800m at regionals.
In 2009 Simon was 1st in the long jump, 2nd in the 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and triple jump at the Prince Charles Intermediate Boys Division Track and Field Championships, and he competed at regionals.
He participates in service projects with the Brant 35th Scouts and is currently working on chief scout award. He is also involved in service projects with the youth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Simon is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains an A average and is looking forward to going to North Park High School next year. In the future he plans to further his education at university, pursue a career at medical school and become a doctor of sports medicine.
