Shelby Kerr - May 11, 2006
Shelby Kerr is a 14 year-old, grade 8 student who attends James Hillier Public School and participates in several school sports including badminton, basketball, baseball, soccer, track and field and volleyball.
Shelby is a hardworking and competitive hockey player who has enjoyed playing the sport for the past 8 years. She contributed to numerous team championships over the years including the 1999 girls hockey playoff championships, 2000 girls house league championships, 2000 novice Southwest championships, 2002 Ontario women's hockey bronze, 2002 girls house league gold and bronze medals, the 2003 Southwest girls hockey bronze, 2003 girls house league gold, 2003 Northhalton gold, 2004 Brantford Ice Cats silver, 2004 house league gold, 2004 London tournament silver medal, 2005 3 on 3 hockey championships gold, 2005 Brantford Ice Cats gold and the 2006 girls house league silver.
Shelby was recognized for her outstanding contributions by winning the 2005 Brantford Ice Cats tournament MVP award and the 2006 Beechy award for the most sportsmanlike hockey player.
Shelby also excels in baseball and has been involved for the past 5 years. She has contributed to numerous team championships including the 2002 house league softball gold, 2002 Ontario women's softball bronze, 2003 Ontario women's softball bronze, 2003 Brantford fast pitch gold, 2003 Stratford softball tournament bronze, 2004 Ontario women's softball gold, 2004 St. Catherines softball bronze, 2005 Brantford girls softball gold, 2005 Grand Valley softball gold, 2005 SGS softball silver, 2005 Michigan softball bronze, 2005 USSSA softball bronze, and the 2005 All World team award at the USSSA World Championships.
Shelby won the 2002 Nole 'B' Mason Run silver medal, 2003 Brant County athletic bronze, 2004 Brant County athletic silver, the 2004 Brant County run silver, and the 2004 Brant County Athletic 1500 m gold medal.
Shelby is a dedicated and hardworking student who has an 87% average; her goals for the future include maintaining good grades when she enters high school next fall, and continue to play both hockey and softball.
