Ryan Blunt - April 30, 2009
Ryan Blunt is a fifteen-year-old grade 9 student who attends Brantford Collegiate Institute and participates in several sports including hockey, rugby, volleyball and cross county.
Ryan has been involved with the Brantford Minor Hockey Association since 1999 and is currently a member of the major Bantam AAA 99ers. He has also been a member of various soccer teams in Brantford over the past 10 years and has refereed soccer for Brant County Recreational Soccer. Ryan is currently a member of the Brantford Minor Baseball Association’s Major Bantam Tier 2 team.
While attending Agnes Hodge Elementary School, he received the 2002 and 2006 Gordon Campbell Sportsmanship award; the 2004 Outstanding Athlete award; the 2005 Ontario Principal Association’s Leadership award and the 2008 Male Athlete award.
Ryan has been an on-ice power skating instructor for the Brantford Girls Hockey Association, as well as a volunteer for the Bell Homestead events and children’s camps. He has assisted at the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament and continues to volunteer each spring at the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association’s Provincial Championships in Mississauga.
He is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains an 84% average. His personal goals include maintaining a positive attitude towards academics and sports in order to take advantage of scholarship opportunities in the future.
