Robbie Sibbick - October 24, 2002
The Tournament Capital of Ontario "Athlete of the Week" is Robbie Sibbick.
Robbie started playing darts as a young boy of seven and now plays with the Brant Youth Darts Club. In 1998 he was the youngest player at the Nationals where he came in second in both the singles and doubles (with partner Aaron Johnson). During that same year he had won the singles event at the Provincials.
Since that time Robbie has continued to compete at the provincial and national level, garnering some second and third place finishes; but his biggest success was a national championship in Sault Ste. Marie with partner Terry Hayhurst.
This year he placed second in singles in the Ontario championships and went on to Edmonton for the Nationals where he was third in the singles and won the doubles with Zachary Myett. Also this year, he was selected the MVP at the Canusa Games in Michigan.
Robbie is following in his grandfather's footsteps, from whom he learned to love the game. He is a likeable young man who has always helped others with their darts. Robbie is a grade eleven student at Tollgate Tech and, after a summer as a shadow guard at the Woodman Park Community Centre, is currently training to be a lifeguard. He has also had some success in baseball as part of an Arnold Anderson Cup winning team in 2000.
Congratulations Robbie. |
