BRANTFORD TRANSIT STRIKE UPDATE

As of Sunday, November 9, 2008, The City of Brantford has reached a tentative agreement with The Amalgamated Transit Union (Local 685) representing Brantford Transit operators and service personnel.

Brantford Transit service will be operating normal weekday service beginning at 6:00 am.

This agreement will still require ratification by the membership and City Council.

NOTICE:
Operation Lift USERS Affected by Current Strike

Subsidy for Transportation Costs to Operation Lift Users During Strike

Brantford City Council has authorized that Operation Lift users be reimbursed for transportation costs incurred during strike that they would have otherwise had access to, through Operation Lift:
      - Immediately following the strike
      - Only for persons eligible for Operation Lift
      - For travel within the City of Brantford only
      - For travel by taxi only (not personal vehicle)
      - That the cost of a normal Operation Lift ride of $3.00 be deducted from the receipt

Operation Lift users using alternate transportation during the strike, are advised to keep receipts for these costs.

Please note that if the cost of the receipts collected is more than the monies held by the City, the monies available will be distributed evenly amongst all applicants requesting reimbursement.

At the end of the strike, Operation Lift will be collecting the receipts and submitting them to the City for reimbursement.

For more information, please contact the City of Brantford Engineering Department at 519-759-1350.
