Paul Volpe - April 17, 2008
Paul Volpe is an eleven-year-old grade 6 student at Resurrection School who has been actively involved in sports for several years.
His first organized sport was soccer at the age of 4 in the Brantford Recreational Soccer League. He continued to play soccer for 6 years, progressing into the Brantford Youth Soccer League. In 2005 Paul helped his soccer team win the Under 9 Boys Brantford Youth Soccer Championship by scoring the winning goal in sudden death overtime in the final game.
Paul started to play hockey in the Brantford Church Hockey League at the age of 5. In his second season (2003-2004), Paul's team was the Tyke Champions and he was awarded the Most Sportsmanlike Player Award. In 2006/07 and 2007/08 Paul has played on the Novice and Pee Wee Brantford Church Hockey League Select teams. He is very enthusiastic and energetic and a great team player. His most notable skills on the ice are his skating ability and passing skills.
Paul has also been involved in Brantford Minor Baseball Association for the past 2 seasons. In the first season (2006) he was in the house league program and his team won the Mosquito division Championship. In 2007 Paul played for the Minor Pee Wee Tier 2 Rep Team. His passion for the game and determination to succeed make him a complete ball player. Paul enjoys playing shortstop and second base but his versatility on the field allows him to also play other positions. This season Paul will be playing on the BMBA Minor Pee Wee Rep Team.
Paul has also played other sports such as CYO basketball, Brantford Neighbourhood Association Rookie Ball, Brantford Youth Flag Football and Indoor Soccer with the Paris Soccer Club. In all of his sports Paul is known for his speed, dedication and respect for his teammates and coaches.
Paul is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains an A average. In grades 3 and 4 he was selected by his classmates to receive the Christian Living Award. In grades 5 and 6, he was chosen to participate in the school’s Public Speaking contest. Paul is looking forward to going into grade 7, where he will be able to try out for the Intramural sports teams at Resurrection School.
In the future, Paul hopes to attend University or College where he can play baseball with aspirations of a career in the field of sports. His dream is to be a baseball player, a hockey official, or in a sports administrative position such as a player agent.
