Nicole Singleton - April 2, 2009
Nicole Singleton is a seventeen-year-old grade 12 student from North Park Collegiate who been involved in a variety of sports including swimming, curling, badminton, basketball, fastball and volleyball.
During public school at Brier Park, she was an active team player on many sports teams and was awarded the Physical Education Award for 2004-2005. She was also the recipient of the Ontario Principals’ Council Student Leadership Award.
Nicole started playing softball in 2000, with the Brantford Minor Softball Association and helped her teams become league champions and pennant winners. She then progressed to rep ball and helped her team, the Brantford Bobcats; win a bronze medal in the Provincial Championships in 2003. She is a pitcher and center fielder and has played for the Brantford Lady Red Sox Fast Pitch team for the last 4 years. She is now playing for the Cambridge Coyotes.
Nicole played volleyball with the Brantford Tornadoes OVA team for 4 years and is currently assistant coach to the 16U girls OVA team.
At high school she was the recipient of the Trojan Award for 2 years playing basketball, volleyball and fastball. She helped her basketball team to an undefeated season in 2005 to win the BCSSAA Midget Championship.
She has played high school volleyball for 4 years and her team has won the BCSSAA Championships for the past three years. She was the team MVP for 2007 and this season she helped her team to remain undefeated for 2009.
She has played for the high school fastball team since grade 9 and in 2008 they were the BCSSAA champs.
Nicole has completed her Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross swimming levels and became a certified lifeguard with the National Lifesaving Society.
Nicole has been on the Honor Roll for Grade 9, 10, 11 and currently has an 82% average. She was also the recipient of the Health Sciences Leadership Award Grade 11.
Last semester Nicole completed a co-op placement with Rehab Health at the Brant Community Healthcare System that helped confirm her passion to attend university to study Kinesiology. She would like to pursue a career in Sports Medicine.
