Melanie Mitchell - December 3, 2009
Melanie Mitchell is a fifteen year old grade 10 student who attends Paris District High School and is actively involved in soccer, cross country, basketball, volleyball, track and badminton. She started playing soccer at the age of four, basketball at six, cross country, volleyball and track at age eleven and badminton at thirteen.
She played rep soccer and volleyball, and was a member of various school teams in elementary and high school.
In June 2009, she was the captain of the Kitchener soccer team that won a silver medal at the International Children's Games in Athens, Greece. She was also a member of the Kitchener soccer team that competed in the San Francisco International Children's
Games in 2008.
Melanie was named the Outstanding Female Athlete in grade 8 and has been selected MVP at several soccer tournaments over the years.
She plays for the Brampton United U16 girl’s soccer team in the OYSL and will be playing in showcase tournaments in North Carolina and Florida this winter.
Melanie has volunteered with the Paris and Kitchener soccer clubs, assisting younger players. She is a hard working student who maintains a mid 80's average and was on the honour roll in grade 9.
Melanie plans to pursue a career in physiotherapy or sports medicine and hopes to play university soccer.
