Lacey McMurray - May 27, 2010
Lacey McMurray is an eleven-year-old grade 6 student from Coronation School who is involved in several sports including baseball, karate, baseball and bowling.
She has played baseball for four years, karate for three years, bowling for four years and has been on her school baseball team for two years.
Lacey is also working on getting her black belt in karate and is only two belts away from reaching that goal.
She has won several awards over the years including the 2006 Combo Team House Champion for bowling and in 2008 she went to Ottawa for the Provincials. She won the most dedicated player and team MVP on her baseball team in 2008 and helped win the playoff champions, as well as pitching a no-hitter in 2009.
Lacey helped her team finish second at the 2009 Grand Valley Ladies Softball Tournament, and she held the 2009 high total. In 2010 she was the league champion and attended provincials in Cobourg for bowling.
She is a hard working student who maintains good grades and goes in early every morning to help her teacher. In the future she hopes to attend college or university and wants to continue playing sports along the way.
