Joseph Dalia - October 28, 2004
This week the TCO salutes Joseph Dalia as the Athlete of the Week.
Joseph Dalia has been playing his two favourite sports, basketball and soccer, since the tender age of five. He excels at both endeavours; having earned a place on a rep team for soccer, as well as the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) basketball league's travel team for the past six years.
This summer Joseph enjoyed two programs that are memorable career highlights for this up and coming athlete. He was invited to participate in a basketball camp held at the campus of York University in Toronto, and one at the University of Western Ontario in London.
A student at St. Gabriel's Elementary, 14 year-old Joseph also shares his skills with his school's basketball and soccer teams. Showing himself to be a well-rounded athlete, Joseph has gone beyond his two mainstay sports to try his hand at volleyball, golf, and badminton, and recently made his first foray on to the rink to try his hand at curling.
Joseph is a serious student, who works hard to achieve good grades. He is a leader in his school community, and this year was chosen to be Student Council President. He has volunteered within his school to assist younger students, and has pitched in to help with the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home.
Joseph is looking forward to attending high school at St. John's College where he hopes to continue his academic and athletic achievements so that he can pursue studies and sports at the university level. He loves competition, and can always be counted on to give his best to his coach and his teammates.
Congratulations Joseph, and good luck! |
