John-Alex DaBreo - April 8, 2004
This week's TCO "Athlete of the Week" is John-Alex DaBreo, a 13-year-old Grade 8 student at Central Baptist Academy.
John-Alex's main sports interest is basketball. In 2001, he received the coach's award for CYO Select basketball. He also now referees for CYO basketball.
Soccer, tennis and golf are also of interest to this young man. John-Alex was among the Brantford Golf and Country Club interclub champions for two consecutive years, 2002 and 2003. As for soccer, he was on the winning team, garnering the title of 2003 Brantford Soccer Under-12 Boys Champions.
John-Alex's sports accomplishments include the title of Dufferin Tennis Club Tennis Doubles Champion, earned in 2002. He is also the recipient of an OBA bronze medal in 2001.
This young athlete has made time to succeed in his studies - he was on the honour roll at Central Baptist Academy in Grades 6 and 7, and currently holds a current grade average of 85%.
John-Alex plans to attend university when he completes high school at St. John's College. He has dreams of playing basketball in the NBA.
