Jessica Rennie - August 23, 2007
Jessica Rennie is a 17-year-old graduate of North Park Collegiate who excelled in swimming and was active in volleyball.
Jessica was a member of the North Park varsity swim team and won several awards. She competed at the 2007 District 10 Swimming Championships and helped her team finish 2 nd in the medley relay (swimming the back stroke), she placed 2 nd in the 100m back stroke, 3rd in the 200m freestyle relay, and 3rd in the 200m freestyle.
At CWOSSA she helped her team finish 5th in the medley relay (swimming the back stroke), she placed 6th in the 200m freestyle relay, and 8th in the 200m freestyle.
Jessica completed all 12 levels of the Red Cross swim program, she took the bronze medallion and bronze cross; she earned her NLS (lifeguard certification) and her CPR and first aid certification. She is working as a lifeguard and swimming instructor at the Paris community pool this summer.
Over the years she has been active in many other sports including basketball, badminton, soccer, track and field, baseball and karate.
Jessica was a referee for elementary school volleyball at the Christian Athletic Association of Southwestern Ontario for two years; she was a member of the North Park senior band for 3 years, and was a member of the yearbook committee in grades 9 and 10.
She graduated with 240 hours of community involvement by volunteering 40 hrs. at the Cubbies Program at Central Baptist Church and 200 hrs. as a Lifeguard in Training at the Paris community pool.
Jessica graduated grade 12 with an overall average of 92% and was nominated for the Bison’s Academic Athletic Scholarship as the top female at North Park.
Jessica will be attending McMaster University this fall where she will study general science her first year and hopes to specialize in a joint biology and psychology program her second year. She plans to stay involved in sports at the intramural level while focusing on her studies.
