Jerry Hill - August 13, 2009
Jerry Hill is a seventeen-year old grade 12 graduate from Assumption College who will be returning this fall to continue his education.
He has been involved in track and cross-country for 12 years; he is a member of the Brantford Track & Field Club and who participates in track and cross-country at Assumption College. He also participated in school field lacrosse and played hockey this past winter with the Six Nations Midget All-Stars.
In August 2008 Jerry participated in the North American Indigenous Games held in Cowichan, British Columbia and placed 2nd in the juvenile boys 800m and 1500m races and was 3rd in cross-country. At the 2009 Brantford Classic Run he placed 5th overall in the 10km run with a time of 0:36:55 and finished 1st in his age division 17-19 years.
Jerry received the Assumption College MVP Track & Field Award in 2005/2006 and received the Cross Country MVP Award in 2005/2006, 2006/2007 and 2007/08. At his graduation in June he received the grade 12 Recreation & Fitness Leadership Award and the Lion Award.
He participated in the Relay for Life at Assumption in grade 10 and volunteered with the Six Nations Minor Hockey and the Brantford Track and Field Club.
Jerry is a dedicated and hardworking student who achieved excellent marks in grade 12 including a 97 in his recreation and leadership class, which was his favourite class. In June he received his Technological Studies certificate for successfully completing a concentration in Technologicial Studies class.
In January Jerry will be starting an OYAP placement, he plans on attending college to pursue a career in auto mechanics and will continue to compete in track.
