Jennifer Ellison - May 23, 2002
The Tournament Capital of Ontario "Athlete of the Week" is Jennifer Ellison an 18 year-old, OAC student from Pauline Johnson Collegiate who is a member of the Brantford Aquatic Club and was recently selected to the Canadian National Lifeguard team. Jennifer competed at the Canadian Lifeguard Championships and placed second in the 200 metre obstacles and was the 3rd overall female at the Provincial Lifeguard Championships.
Jennifer also participated at the Junior Nationals for swimming in 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2002. She was the recipient of the Nancy Dailey Memorial Award for leadership from the Brantford Aquatic Club and received the George Grinter Memorial Award for an outstanding performance at the Eastern Cup swim meet.
She is a coach for the Brantford Aquatic Club, volunteered with blind swimmers at the Special Olympics and is an excellent student with an average of over 90%. Jennifer hopes to attend Guelph University next fall to study biology and become a veterinarian. She will also continue to swim for both the city and university teams.
