J. P. Yurcich - June 22, 2006
J.P. Yurcich is a grade six student at Resurrection School who enjoys playing sports all year round.
J.P. has been playing basketball with the Catholic Youth Organization since he was 5 years old and for the past four years he has also played on a select team. In 2004 his team finished 4th at the Ontario Provincial Basketball Championships, in 2005 they placed 5th and in 2006 they finished seventh. J.P. helped his team win a silver medal at the annual CYO Paul Mitchell Basketball Tournament last February.
J.P. was a member of a 3-on-3-basketball team that won the Gus Maker 3-on-3 tournament in London and the inaugural 3-on-3 Basketball tournament held in Brantford last summer. He participating in the 3-on-3 Basketball tournament in Brantford a couple of weeks ago, that helped raise funds for Community Living Brant.
J.P. is looking forward to attending the Olympia Basketball Camp this summer, and hopes to play on his school's basketball team next year. He has also been involved as a volunteer with CYO for the past two years as a scorekeeper/timer.
In the winter J.P. also enjoys playing house league hockey for the Brantford Minor Hockey Association, and for the past two years has also played for their select team.
Football is another sport that he really enjoys playing and has been involved with the Brantford Bisons for the past 4 years.
For the past six summers soccer has kept J.P. in shape while playing various positions in the Brantford Youth Soccer League's house league program.
J.P. is a well-rounded athlete who enjoys participating in a variety of sports and is a hardworking student who maintains a high average. He has made many friends over the years through his involvement with sports and appreciates all the help he has received from his coaches.
Whenever J.P. isn't playing sports, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends on his family's boat waterskiing, knee boarding or wakeboarding.
