Heather Szentimrey - July 12, 2007
Heather Szentimrey is a seventeen year graduate of Paris District High School (PDHS) who has been actively involved in a variety of sports for several years.
She was a member of the PDHS volleyball team in grade 10; a member of the soccer team in grades 9 through 12; a member of the track team in grades 9 through 11; and was a member of the PDHS cheerleading team in grades 11 and 12.
Heather played for the Cambridge travel soccer team in 2004 and 2005; she received the 2005 Most Improved Player award and won the MVP award at the Cambridge All-Star tournament. She also played for the Paris Inter-city soccer team in 2006.
Heather received the 2006 Track Warrior Award and won the 2007 Coach’s Award for soccer at PDHS.
She was a member of her school’s cheerleading team for 2 years and helped them capture 2 nd place at the Ontario Cheerleading Federation, they finished in 5 th place at the Cheer Alliance Nationals and 1st place at the Regional competition held at the University of Waterloo.
Heather was the 2004 BCSSA Champion in the 80m hurdles, she won the CWOSSA 80m hurdles and competed at the OFSAA 80m hurdles. In 2005 she was the BCSSA 80m hurdles champion and the CWOSSA 80m hurdles champion. In 2006 she was the BCSSA 100m hurdles champion, she was the CWOSSA 100m hurdles champion and competed in the OFSAA 100m hurdles.
She helped her high school win the Brant County Track & Field Championships in 2004, 2005 and again in 2006.
Heather was a member of the Big Creek Saddle Club for three years and competed in many horse shows winning numerous awards.
She volunteered at the Tondi Equestrian centre for a summer, she coached her school’s grade 9 and 10 junior soccer teams, she was a volunteer at the St. George Fire Department, and she coached a Cambridge house league soccer team.
Heather recently graduated with an 80% average and will attend the University of Guelph this fall where she plans to continue her education with a major in studio art and a minor in either history or English. She will pursue a career as a high school teacher and remain active in sports.
