Greg Jones - July 10, 2008
Greg Jones is an eighteen-year-old graduate of Paris District High School who was actively involved in track and field, basketball, volleyball, cross-country, badminton, tennis and golf.
He participated in track and field for 6 years, basketball for 8 years, volleyball for 6 years, cross country for 1 year, badminton for 6 years, tennis for 3 years and golf for 4 years.
Greg has received several individual and team awards over the years including the 2005/06 BCSSA Junior Basketball Championships; the 2005 Ontario Basketball Association Championships playing with CYO basketball; the 2004/05 and 2005/06 BCSSA and CWOSSA Volleyball Championships; the 2007/08 BCSSA Cross Country Championships; the 2004/05 BCSSA Track and Field Midget Boys Overall Champion finishing 1st place in 100m hurdles, 100m, 200m, and shot-put; at the 2004/05 CWOSSA he finished 1st place in the 100m hurdles, 2nd in 100m and 200m; the 2005/06 BCSSA Track and Field placing 1st in 100m hurdles, shot-put and 2nd in 100m and 200m; the 2005/06 CWOSSA Track and Field he placed 1st in the 100m hurdles; in 2005/06 he finished 11th out of 24 at OFSSA Track; at the 2006/07 BCSSA he captured 1st place in the 110m hurdles, the 400m hurdles, and shot-put, and at the 2007/08 BCSSA he placed 2nd in the 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles and the shot-put.
Greg has been actively involved in the community umpiring baseball games and refereeing basketball for local elementary schools.
He was a dedicated and hardworking student who graduated high school with a 91% average. Greg will be attending Carleton University in the fall and hopes to make the varsity volleyball team join the track team and continue to play rep basketball.
