Emily Weir - November 6, 2008
Emily Weir is a thirteen-year-old grade 8 student from Mount Pleasant Public School who participates on several school teams including badminton, volleyball, baseball, basketball, soccer, track & field, cross-country and ball hockey.
She is an active member of the Brantford Ice Cats Bantam AA rep team and has been playing hockey for 5 years. She received the 2005/06 Heart and Soul Award in memory of Sheila Devuyst, for dedication and sportsmanship.
In 2006 Emily finished 21st at a cross-country meet; she was 1st in the 100m and 200m races at the Regional meet, she was 2nd in the long jump, she helped her school relay team finish 3rd and was 1st in the 100m race at the County meet.
In 2007 she was 1st in the 100m, long jump, and helped the relay team win 1st at the Regional meet. She was 1st in the 100m, 1st in the long jump, and helped the relay team win 1st place at the County meet.
At the 2008 Regional meet she was 1st in the 100m, long jump, and shot put and helped the relay team win 1st place. She was 1st in the 100m and helped her relay team finish 1st at the County meet.
Emily is a dedicated and hardworking student who has an 80% average and was nominated as the class representative for her school’s student’s council.
In the future she plans to attend BCI and hopes to graduate with honors and attend University. Her dream is to go to the Olympics and represent Canada.
