Ehren DeRosse - November 11, 2004
This week's TCO Athlete of the Week is Ehren DeRosse.
Ehren DeRosse has been having a great time playing football and running track for six years, and he has the awards to prove it.
He is a running back/receiver on the Brantford Collegiate Institute's (BCI) junior Colt's football team and is planning on giving rugby a try this season. Ehren is an avid runner and represented Mt. Pleasant School in the 100 and 200 meter, high jump, long jump, and relay.
Ehren received five MVP awards for the 2002-03 season in the Bison's Alumni Atom division, and won the 2003 Bison's Award given to an individual who has demonstrated a strong athletic ability, team leadership and sportsmanlike behaviour. He also received the Male Athlete of the Year for the Mt. Pleasant School's grade eight graduating class of 2004.
He enjoys working with and encouraging younger kids, and did just that during his time at Mt. Pleasant School by helping them learn skills in sports and acting as a safety patroller. In 2004, he won the Safety Patroller of the Year for Brant County.
Erhen's personal goal is working towards an athletic scholarship in football and one day hopes to play in the NFL. He is settling into high school this year and in the future would like to pursue a career in accounting. This ambitious 14-year-old loves cars and his other favourite activities include dirt biking and reading.
Ehren's coach describes him as a team leader and an easy player to coach; his family and friends know him as a quiet guy with a great sense of humour.
Congratulations Ehren, and good luck! |
