Edlon Charlery - January 18, 2007
Edlon Charlery is a 17-year-old grade 11 student who attends Brantford Collegiate Institute and excels in the sport of track and field. In August 2006 he moved to Brantford from Micoud, St. Lucia, and soon after starting high school he began training with the BCI track and field team. Edlon has been involved in the sport of track and field for six years, he is a member of the Brantford Track & Field Club and the Ontario Track & Field Association.
Last summer Edlon won the junior boys 100m race with a time of 11.60 seconds and the 200m race with a time of 23.59 seconds at the Brant County Secondary School Association Track & Field Championships. He then competed at the Central Western Ontario Secondary School Association Track & Field Championships and again won the 100m and 200m events.
Edlon is a hardworking student who maintains a 75% to 80% average, his future plans include qualifying for the Canadian National Junior athletics team, achieve an athletic scholarship and one day compete in the Olympics.
