Devon Rizzo - October 16, 2008
Devon Rizzo is a sixteen-year-old grade 11 student from St. John’s College who participates in several sports including; basketball, golf, swimming, soccer, skating, snowboarding and skiing.
She has been actively involved in basketball for 11 years playing both house league and rep with CYO and Briers; golf for 6 years, snowboarding and skiing for 14 years, soccer for 11 years, competitive swimming for 5 years and figure skating for 5 years.
She was co-captain of the Briers major midget basketball team, a member of the undefeated SJC 2006 junior team, co-captain of 2007 SJC junior team and a member of the SJC senior basketball team.
Devon has achieved several personal and team awards over the years including the 2002 & 2004 OBA Championships with CYO and in 2008 she finished in 4th place with Briers. She helped the St. Johns basketball team win the CWOSSA championships in 2005 & 2007 and the BCSSAA Championships in 2006 & 2007.
She represented Canada at the 2008 Junior Golf Worlds held in San Diego; she tied for 58th at the 2008 Canadian Championships, she tied for 51st at 2007 Canadian Championships, she was 21st at the 2008 CN Future Links Ontario Championships, she won the 2007 BCSSA Championships and currently holds a 2 handicap at the Brantford Golf and Country Club.
Devon is a dedicated and hardworking student who has a 92% average. She plans to attend University and pursue a career in civil engineering and hopes to get a golf scholarship.
