Danielle Ferguson - August 30, 2007
Danielle Ferguson is a seventeen-year-old grade 12 student from St. Johns College who excels in synchronized swimming. She has been a member of the Brant Synchro Club for 7 years and trains 4 to 5 days a week.
Danielle is involved in Synchro Ontario and Synchro Canada and participates in provincial and national competitions. This season she decided to move up from tier 5 level to tier 6 level and compete solo after her duet partner headed off to university. She is the only swimmer from the Brant Synchro Club to compete at this level in over a decade.
Danielle has been successful in her solo career this season placing 9th at the Provincial Trials, 9th at the Provincial Championships, 18th at Divisionals and finishing 22nd at Nationals. Her team placed 2 nd at Regionals, 4th at Provincials, and 4th at the Ontario Quebec Cup. In combo she placed 2nd at Regionals, 1st at Provincials and 1st at the Ontario Quebec Cup.
Danielle received several athletic awards this year; the Brant Synchro Swimmer of the Year, the Toyota Tulip Award for Rookie Coach of the Year, and the Tier 6 Figure award.
She has been volunteering at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre for the past 3 years helping with swimming lessons and is currently a coach for the Brant Synchro Club where she helps run the aqua squirt program, an introductory synchronized swimming program.
Danielle has been on the honor role since she entered grade 9 and plans to continue working hard so she can once again make the honor role this year.
Her goals for the future include qualifying for nationals next season, making the Ontario team, being accepted at a university in a kinesiology program and remain involved in swimming at the university level.
