Dana Poirier - January 3, 2008
Dana Poirier is a 14-year-old grade 9 student from Assumption College who participates in several sports including hockey, lacrosse, basketball, soccer and rugby.
Dana has been participating in hockey for 6 years with the Brantford Girls Hockey Association house league and the Brantford Ice Cats rep team; she played lacrosse for 4 years with the Brantford Posse Lacrosse rep team and the Brantford Minor Lacrosse house league; she played basketball for 4 years in the CYO and Briers programs, she played soccer for 3 years with the Brantford Youth Soccer League; she played Brantford Harlequins Rugby for 1 year and plays on the Assumption College Girls Hockey team.
Dana helped her teams over the years win several notable awards including the 2001 Briers Basketball Championships gold medal; the 2005 Brantford Ice Cats Hockey Tournament gold medal; the 2005 Barrie Tornado Classic Lacrosse bronze medal; the 2006 Brantford Ice Cats Hockey Tournament silver medal; the 2006 Sabres Sweetheart Hockey Tournament silver medal; the 2006 and 2007 Cambridge Roadrunner Hockey Tournament MVP awards and the 2007 Willowdale Red Wings Hockey Tournament silver medal.
She is the assistant captain for the 2007/08 Brantford Ice Cats Bantam B hockey team and volunteers for the Brantford Minor Lacrosse as a timekeeper and participated at the Brantford Clean-up Day at various parks.
Dana is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains an 85% average. Academically she hopes to get an apprenticeship for a skilled trade or go to college and become a registered nurse. She also plans to play hockey for her school and for Brantford rep. hockey.
