Courtney Dotchin - November 2, 2006
Courtney Dotchin is a seventeen-year-old grade 12 student from Paris District High School who participates in several sports including baseball, ringette, swimming, track and field, rugby and volleyball.
She has been involved in baseball for 10 years, ringette, volleyball and track and field for 7 years, rugby for 3 years, and swimming for the past 2 years.
Courtney has received numerous awards over the years including a MVP and silver medalist award for baseball in 2000, she won the MVP award for ringette in 2000, a gold medal at a Paris tournament in 2000 and a gold medal at the Southern Regionals in 2000.
In 2002 she helped her Hamilton A Ringette team win a silver medal at a tournament in Hamilton, and in 2003 they won a silver medal in Whitby. In 2004 they won a silver medal in Ajax, a gold medal in Burlington and won a silver medal at the Ontario Ringette Provincial Championships.
In 2005 her team won a gold medal in Hamilton, a silver medal in Cambridge and a gold medal in Nepean. In 2006 her team captured a gold medal at a tournament in Cambridge.
She was the 2004/05 volleyball most versatile player, and helped her team win a gold medal at a Pauline Johnson Collegiate tournament.
Courtney is very active at her school, she has been on the social committee for the past 3 years, on the athletics council for 2 years, and is currently on the students council. She has been volunteering at school volleyball games for the past 4 years and helped at CWOSSA girls volleyball in 2003/04.
She will soon be volunteering at the Brantford General Hospital and is a lifeguard and instructor at the John Dolson Centre.
Courtney is a dedicated student who has been on the school's honor roll since grade nine; her favourite subjects are chemistry, biology, math and phys ed. After graduation she plans to attend university and will take either health sciences or kinesiology. Courtney's goal for the future is to complete university, pursue a career in medicine and become a family doctor, surgeon or pediatrician. She also hopes to play varsity sports in rugby, baseball or volleyball.
