Colleen Armstrong - October 2, 2008
Colleen Armstrong is a fifteen-year-old grade 10 student from Pauline Johnson Collegiate Vocational School who has been actively involved in soccer, wrestling, tennis, badminton, figure skating, hockey and shot put.
Over the years she has received several individual and team awards including the 2004 & 2006 Whit Award at the Burford Figure Skating Club; the 2007 Banbury Heights Athlete of the Year award; the 2007 MVP award at a Kitchener soccer tournament and the 2007 Brant County High School Champion in junior tennis, badminton and shot put.
In 2007 she finished in 2nd place at CWOSSA in the girls shot put and in 5th place at OFFSA in the shot put. She was the 2007 Brant County rookie wrestling champion and won a bronze medal for the 70kg at the 2007 Ontario Wrestling Cadet Championships.
Colleen is a goalkeeper for the U16 Girls Select Brantford Infernos who finished a close 2nd in league play. She plays tennis at the Dufferin Club where she won the U12 title and reached a "B" doubles final. She has also skated for many years with the Burford Figure Skating Club where she has reached her Junior Bronze level.
Colleen received the 2007 Banbury Heights Principals Award of Excellence and the 2007 Pauline Johnson Junior Letter recipient. She is a member of the PJ Athletic Council, she volunteered at the 30 Hour Famine, and is a scorekeeper at many sporting events.
Colleen is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains an 85% average and hopes to pursue a career in architecture at university and play varsity soccer, wrestling, tennis, or figure skating.
