Cindy Haggith - May 29, 2003
The Tournament Capital of Ontario "Athlete of the Week" is Cindy Haggith, a 15-year-old grade 10 student from Brantford Collegiate Institute. She enjoys playing all types of sports, but especially loves basketball.
Cindy has been playing basketball since she was 8 years old in the Briers basketball league and has consistently been on AAA teams. Her minor bantam basketball team won 3rd place at the 2000 OBA's, and her atom team won 1st place in 2001. Because of her outstanding contributions, she has received several MVP awards playing in tournaments.
Cindy has been part of the B.C.I. junior basketball team for two years and this season competed at CWOSSA winning 2nd place awards. She credits their success to a hard working team with great coaches.
Cindy also played baseball, flag football, tennis, and soccer with outstanding results, although basketball still remains her favourite sport. When she graduated from Banbury Heights, she won the athletic award in grade eight.
Cindy helps teach children how to improve their basketball skills and always keeps a smile on her face because she knows they look up to her. With three little sisters, she?s sure to pass on some great basketball techniques.
Cindy's goal is to one day become a Youth Counselor and help troubled kids. She is looking forward to playing on the Ontario Basketball team this summer.
Congratulations Cindy! |
