Chris Haylock - July 24, 2003
The Tournament Capital of Ontario "Athlete of the Week" is Chris Haylock.
Chris has graduated from Brantford Collegiate Institute with a 93.5 per cent average and will be attending Queen's University for engineering in the fall.
He is the recent recipient of the Bisons Alumni Top Male Athletic Scholarship award for his outstanding athletic and academic achievements.
Chris has been involved in many sports and extracurricular activities, receiving numerous awards and recognition for his involvement. He has competed in tennis, football, swimming, track and field, badminton, and rugby.
Chris has been a member of the Dufferin Tennis Club since 1995, competing in club and provincial tournaments. He played for B.C.I. in mixed doubles earning county champion status twice, placing second in 2002 and placing third at CWOSSA in 2003.
A member of the B.C.I. football team from 2000 to 2003, Chris helped his team win the county championship for each of the three years that he played.
This outstanding athlete played rugby for five years at high school and has been a member of the Harlequins Rugby since 2000. Chris helped his high school team win the county championships for five years; won CWOSSA all five years and won silver at OFSAA twice. Chris was also the team captain in 2002/2003.
Badminton has also been a passion for Chris; he played doubles for the past three years at high school was second in the county for all three years, and placing in fourth and fifth position at CWOSSA.
B.C.I. has also seen Chris compete in swimming, and track and field, with special success in the 800-metre distance run. Chris also entered many math competitions, passed his Grade 8 Flute and has been involved with many charitable organizations in Brantford.
