Chantal Villafranca - August 6, 2009
Chantal Villafranca is a fourteen-year-old grade 10 student from Assumption College who participates in soccer, track and field, and volleyball.
She has been involved in soccer since the age of four; she was a member of the Hamilton District U12 soccer team, and is a member of the BICS U15 rep soccer team in the elite division. She has been involved in volleyball since grade 7 and is a member of the Assumption soccer, volleyball and track and field teams.
Chantal has received several individual and team awards including the 2008 BICS Coach’s MVP award, the Assumption Midget Girls MVP in 2008/09, she was 3rd in the 80m hurdles at Assumption, she was 1st at BCSSAA and 8th at CWOSSA for the 80m hurdles.
She helped her soccer teams win the 2007 South Region Soccer League First Division Championships, the 2008 South Region Soccer League Premier Championships, the 2008 Brockport New York International Soccer Festival Championships and recently the 2009 Brockport New York International Soccer Festival Championships.
Chantal was involved in the Relay for Life in 2007 and 2008 and volunteered for the Brantford Youth Soccer League as a referee.
She is a dedicated and hardworking student who achieved an 89% average in grade 9. In the future her plans are to continue her education at university, pursue a career in sports medicine and get a scholarship for soccer.
