Brittaneigh Stickle - March 11, 2004
This week's TCO "Athlete of the Week" is Brittaneigh Stickle, a 16-year-old Grade 11 student attending Brantford Collegiate Institute (B.C.I.).
Since Grade 9, Brittaneigh has been constantly involved in sports at school. She has been a member of the basketball team and the cross-country team, the volleyball team and the badminton team, the rugby team and the indoor soccer league.
Brittaneigh received the 3D award for desire, dedication and determination for two consecutive years, while playing midget and junior volleyball. The B.C.I. junior girls volleyball team was successful at winning the 2003 CWOSSA final.
Named the female athlete of the year in Grades 9 and 10, Brittaneigh also received the subject award for girls' physical education in Grade 10.
Added to her list of accomplishments, Brittaneigh's Grade 10 rugby team became BCSAA champions in 2003. She also placed first in the 1500-metre, 3000-metre and javelin at the B.C.I. meet in Grade 9. That year, she progressed to the BCSAA and arrived second in the 1500-metre and the 3000-metre.
Brittaneigh has been on the honour roll from the beginning of high school and has received various French-immersion awards. She has demonstrated leadership qualities at school and was invited to attend a summer camp for leadership.
This well-rounded student organizes school activities with her peers, referees, keeps score at B.C.I. basketball games, and volunteers at her former elementary school, École Dufferin School.
