Brinley McLaren - August 2, 2007
Brinley McLaren is an energetic young athlete who excels in both baseball and bowling and participated in track and field, soccer and basketball.
She has been playing baseball for 5 years and this year is part of the Brantford Red Sox Minor Pee Wee AAA traveling team. Her positions are pitcher, 1 st base and 3rd base. She recently won an MVP award at a tournament in Leamington; in 2006 she won an MVP award at a tournament in Bolton and was the 2006 Rookie Pitcher of the Year for the Brantford Red Sox.
Brinley was chosen for the Global All Star team, the WBL Sparks, who will participate at a Cooperstown Dream Park from Aug. 17 to 24; the only girl’s team competing at this National tournament against 90 boys’ teams.
Brinley has been bowling since 2001 at Echo Bowl and has won numerous awards; 2001/02 Pee Wee high double; 2002/03 Pee Wee high average; she was the 2003/04 Bowler of the Year, she helped her team win the league championships and the “4 Steps to Stardom” zone championships.
In 2004/05 she won the Bantam high single; the 2005/06 Bantam high average and the Master Bantam high series award. She helped her team win the 2005/06 zone championships and they finished 2 nd at the provincials in the “4 Steps to Stardom.” In 2006/07 she won the Junior high single; she helped her team win the league championships and she made the “4 Steps to Stardom Team.”
This year she placed 1 st in the long jump and the triple jump at her school and finished in 3rd place in the long jump at the County Championships.
Brinley is a dedicated and hardworking student who achieved a B+ average this year and will be entering grade 7 at Notre Dame School this fall.
Her goals are to achieve a 200 average in bowling and stay actively involved in baseball. Brinley turns 12 years old tomorrow, Happy Birthday have a great day.
