Bri Williams - May 15, 2008
Bri Williams is a seventeen-year-old grade 12 student from Paris District High School who is actively involved in soccer, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, badminton, cross-country, track and field, kickboxing and mixed martial arts.
She has participated in CYO basketball for 4 years; she has been involved with the Wado Kai Karate Club for 9 years; a member of the Paris football club for 4 years; soccer for 14 years, rep soccer for 6 years; the Twin City soccer club for 2 years, a past member of the Under 15, 16, 18 and 19 soccer teams; a past member of the Under 16 Ancaster Titan Soccer Club; the Hamilton Under 18 Soccer Club for indoor, Open Women’s and she is currently a member of the PFC Premier Under 18 soccer team.
Bri has received several team and individual awards over the years including the 1999 Synchronized Kata Junior award; the 2004 High School Athletic Points award; the 2004 and 2006 Brantford Intercity Soccer Cup League Championships; she won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in a Wado Kai competition.
She competed in gymnastics at CWOSSA in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and her school team won the 2006 BCSSA Championships. Her high school team won the 2006 Junior Girls Volleyball Championships and the 2004, 2005 and 2006 BCSSA Volleyball Championships. She also received the Athletes in Action award for outstanding achievement and positive attitude.
Bri coached, refereed and was an assistant convener for soccer; she was a scorekeeper and assisted at ball hockey tournaments; she helped with the boys OFSAA basketball and was a scorekeeper at basketball and volleyball games.
She is a dedicated and hardworking student who achieved an 80% average this semester. She won the 2001 High Standard of Academics, the Academic and Citizenship Awards in 2002, and the Optimist Award in 2003.
Bri plans to further her education at college this September enrolling in the Recreation and Leisure program, and remain involved in competitive sports.
