Brent Mitchell - June 19, 2008
Brent Mitchell is a seventeen-year-old grade 12 student from Paris District High School who has been actively involved in baseball since he was four, volleyball since grade 6 and track and field since grade 5.
Brent has received several individual awards including the Most Outstanding Midget Boys award; the Coaches award for baseball in grade 11, the Team Player award in grade 12 for volleyball, he finished 2nd at OFSAA for javelin in grade 9, and he received the 2006 Rookie of the Year with the Terriers baseball team.
He has been an active member of the Paris High School volleyball and baseball teams since grade 9 competing at OFSSA twice, in both sports. He currently plays for the inter county Terriers baseball team that won the Sandlot World Series in Nashville and the PBLO league in 2006.
Brent was a catcher on the Junior National team for almost a year between 2007/08; he played on the 2007 Team Ontario team that finished 3rd in the Canada Cup held in Quebec; he played in the Ontario Summer Games as starting catcher on the inter county team and received a baseball scholarship to the University of South Alabama.
He helped coach the 2006 Paris Predators Fastball team and helped run baseball clinics for amateur baseball teams in Paris.
Brent is a dedicated and hardworking student who has a 75% average. He will be taking kinesiology at the University of Alabama pursuing a career as an athletic trainer. His dream is to continue playing baseball and one day get drafted into the MLB and become a professional baseball player.
