Brandon Wagstaff - September 6, 2007
Brandon Wagstaff is a 14-year-old grade 9 student who attends St. John’s College and excels in track and field. He was active in many other sports while attending the Central Baptist Academy including soccer, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, badminton, and baseball.
Brandon has been involved in track and field since he was in grade 3 and earlier this year joined the Brantford Track and Field Club.
In grade 8 he broke his school’s record in the 100m, 200m and triple jump and won the 400m, long jump, high jump and shot put.
Earlier this year he was finished 2nd overall for the senior boys at a school meet in London, he was 1st in the 100m and 200m races and placed 2nd in the 400m, high jump and triple jump.
Brandon has been involved in several other meets this year; he placed 1st in the 100m and 200m races in Guelph; he finished 1st in the triple jump, 4th in the 100m and 5th in the 200m races in Burlington; and finished 4th in the 200m, 5 th in the 100m and 6th in the standing long jump in Oshawa.
He participated at the 2007 Ontario Provincial Championships held in Oshawa recently where he finished 2 nd in the 100m and 200m races and placed 1st in the triple jump.
Brandon has been involved in soccer since he was four years old and this year played rep soccer with the Brantford Renegades competing in the South Region Soccer League. In 2006 his team participated at the All Star Tournament in Niagara Falls and he was voted the “Most Valuable Player” by the opposing coach.
Brandon graduated from Central Baptist Academy with a 93% average and received the top mark awards for French and math. He also won the male “Daniel” (citizenship) award and the male “Mighty in Spirit” (sports) award.
In the future Brandon hopes to earn an academic or athletic scholarship and continue his education at University.
