Baylea Wilkins - January 9th, 2001
This week's "Athlete of the Week" is Baylea Wilkins a 16 year-old, grade 11 student at B.C.I. who lives in Burford and trains at the Cabbagetown Boxing Club in Toronto. Currently she holds the Ontario Jr. Championships, the Canadian Jr. Championships, the U.S.A. Golden Gloves Jr. Championships and has a record of 14 wins, 1 loss with 2 KO's. Baylea has also participated in synchronized and competitive swimming, wrestling, running, Ukrainian dancing and was the first female to join the B.C.I. football team and make the starting lineup.
Her first love is boxing and she hopes to compete at the first Amateur World Championships for women in February held in Nova Scotia. Baylea's goal is to represent Canada as a member of the boxing team at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
