Andrea Polischuk - September 25, 2008
Andrea Polischuk is a sixteen-year-old grade 11 student who attends St. John’s College and has been actively involved in several sports including basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball, golf, flag football, and track and field.
She played CYO house league basketball for 8 years and CYO all star for 7 years winning two OBA gold medals. In 2002 her team went undefeated on the way to the provincial championship and won again in 2004. Andrea has received two MVP awards at different tournaments over the years and during the past two years she played rep basketball with Brantford Briers. In 2008 her team finished fourth at the provincials.
Andrea played SJC junior basketball for two years and helped her team win two BCSSA gold medals and two CWOSSA gold medals. She was named MVP of the junior team last year and is currently a member of the senior basketball team.
She played Brant County House League soccer for 12 years; she played golf at the Arrowdale golf course for two years and at the Brantford Golf & Country Club for two years. Andrea played junior volleyball for St. Johns last year and competed at CWOSSA losing in the semi final game. She played flag football for 6 years and won MVP and Most Sportsmanlike player awards.
Andrea participated in track and field throughout elementary school and high school and won MVP for the junior girls at her school last year and has participated at CWOSSA for the past two years in the 400m race.
She has been a referee and coach for flag football; she ran skill sessions and was a scorer and timer for the CYO basketball program. She has been a volunteer at the Thank-A-Vet luncheon for the past two years, and has helped with fundraisers for the Alzheimer Society. She also completed her Bronze Medallion.
Andrea was Prime Minister of her school’s parliament in grade 8 and won the Female Athlete of the Year and Principal’s awards at graduation.
She has maintained a 90% average in high school and has been on her school’s honor roll for the past two years. Andrea hasn’t decided on a career path yet but hopes to play basketball at University.
