Amanda Barnett - February 7, 2008
Amanda Barnett is a sixteen-year-old grade 11 student who attends Assumption College and has been involved in karate for 5 years; figure skating for 11 years; and plays volleyball, rugby and basketball on her high school teams.
She has competed in at least 4 karate competitions each year and places in the top 3 in each division – Kata, Sparing and Weapons. In 2007 she received her black belt.
Amanda has been competing in skating competitions for the past 11 years and has achieved placements from 1 st to 8th . She received her Gold Skating Skill in March 2006, her Gold Interpretive in December 2006 and has received several awards including the Whit Award and the Program Assistant of the Year Award.
She has been a Program Assistant in Burford for 4 years and helps judge at Karate tournaments held in Brantford.
Amanda is a dedicated student who maintains a 75% to 80% average and plans to continue her education at university and pursue a career in sports therapy. She hopes to achieve her 2 nd Degree Black Belt, her Gold Dances in figure skating and get her level One Coaches Certificate.
