Allyson DeLorenzi - January 29, 2009
Allyson DeLorenzi is a fourteen-year-old grade 9 student attending North Park Collegiate who has been actively involved in several sports including basketball, baseball and gymnastics at the rep level and participates in school volleyball, track and field and soccer. While in grade 8, she helped her school basketball team win the AA gold medal and received the Female Athlete of the Year award.
Allyson has been involved in CYO basketball for 7 years and Briers basketball for the last two years. She helped her teams win gold, silver and bronze medals at various tournaments and also received a tournament 'Hustle' Award in 2006.
In 2008 she was a member of the Briers basketball team that placed 4th at the Ontario Basketball Association Provincials, she is currently playing for the Briers midget all star team and was a member of the 2008 North Park girls junior basketball team that placed second at CWOSSA.
Allyson has been playing fast pitch for 7 years; four of those at the all-star level with the Brantford Bobcats, she is a middle infielder and pitcher. Last summer, the Bobcats won gold at the Mississauga Partners tournament earning them a berth to the USSSA World Series that will be held in Orlando Florida in July 2009. She also helped her team go undefeated through the Provincial Qualifiers and Championships. Her team placed second at the Eastern Canadian Championships in PEI where she won the Top Batter award and an MVP award.
She volunteered at the National Pee Wee Girls Fast pitch Championships and the National Midget Boys Fast pitch Championships held in Brantford. Allyson also will be volunteering time with Brantford Minor Softball giving pitching instruction to House League players.
Allyson is a hardworking student who maintains an 80% average and aspires to continue her education at university and play varsity basketball and baseball.
