Allie McDonald - August 10, 2006
Allie McDonald is an all round athlete who excels in basketball and has been developing her skills over the past 12 years.
Allie played basketball for both CYO and Briers rep. teams before joining the Hamilton Wildcats in 1999. She spent the 2004 season with the Kitchener-Waterloo Lightning before returning to the Wildcats. In 2003 and 2004 she was selected to the Nike Midget Development Program Basketball team.
Allie was Rookie of the Year in 2003, MVP in 2004 & 2005, Best Defensive Player in 2004 & 2005, her team was the OFSAA 2005 Consolation Champions, she won the RAPTOR award, led her team to the 2004 Franco Ontarien Tournoi Championships bronze medal, a silver medal in 2005, and a gold medal in 2006. She won the MVP basketball award in 2006, received the 2005 Athlete of the Year award, and was part of the 2006 Ontario Team that won the Canadian National Francophone Basketball Championships in Calgary, this past May.
She has been involved in several other sports including soccer for 11 years, volleyball for 3 years, and both badminton and hockey for 2 years. In 2005 she played on the senior volleyball team that went to OFSAA, she was nominated for the MVP award, was chosen the Most Improved Player and won the 2004 MVP soccer award.
Allie participates in many school activities; she was a member of the drama club stage crew, helped referee basketball, soccer and volleyball games, and this year will be a member of the Student's Council.
She attended the 2004 Centre d'Animation Scolaire de l'Ontario Camp and as a result will be one of the students assisting the staff Sports Liaison rep. at ACMT and will participate as an instructor for Phys. Ed. classes at her school, earning Leadership credits toward her university education. She was chosen to help organize her school's participation in the 2005 Terry Fox Run in Hamilton.
She currently attends Academie Catholique Mere Teresa (ACMT) high school in Hamilton and will be entering grade 12 this fall. In 2004 she received the Ontario French Education award for exceptional leadership and academics. She is fully bi-lingual and will graduate from ACMT with a bi-lingual certificate.
Allie has been an honor roll student for several years and hopes to attend either Windsor or Carleton University for studies in Forensics and will try for a position on the varsity basketball team.
Allie credits much of her athletic success to the excellent coaching she has received over the years, and is grateful for the support that she has received from her teachers, friends and especially her family.
