Ali Martin - December 28, 2006
Ali Martin is a sixteen-year-old grade 11 student from Paris District High School (PDHS) who has been actively involved in track for 8 years, volleyball for 4 years, rugby for 2 years, and was a competitive synchronized swimmer for 7 years.
Ali has been playing competitive volleyball with the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) for a couple of years choosing to play with age groups above hers for the last few. She is a member of the Brantford Youth Volleyball Club and was the PDHS volleyball team captain in 2005 and 2006.
She received the Sports Award in grade 8, and received the volleyball MVP award for her school team in 2005.
Ali enjoys volunteering and was a coach for the Brant Synchro Club in grade 9, she is currently helping coach her school’s midget girls volleyball team and is an active member of her school’s athletic and student councils.
She is a dedicated and hardworking student who was on the honor role in grades 8, 9 and 10. She received the Principal’s Leadership Award in grade 8 and has received numerous academic awards in French, geography, history, science, math and English.
Academically she was the second place student in grade 10, and has maintained a 93% average throughout high school. Her favourite subjects are French and chemistry.
Ali plans to continue her education at university and go to med school, where she hopes to become a surgeon
