Alex Siuda - October 8, 2009
Alex Siuda is a sixteen-year-old grade 12 student from North Park Collegiate who participates in swimming, badminton and track and field. He has been an active member of the Brantford Aquatic Club for 2 years and was previously a member of the region of Waterloo swim team for 2 years.
Alex competes in the 100m and 200m backstroke, and the 100, 200, and 400IM. He has been involved in Regional competitions held in Brantford, St. Catharines and London. He also participated in the Provincials held in Thunder Bay and Ottawa, and the Nationals in Montreal.
He placed 6th in the 200 backstroke and 7th in the 200 individual medley at the Ontario age-group championships this summer. His best ranking at the Provincials was 4th place twice last year in Thunder Bay. He has also won several gold medals at Regionals.
Alex is a member of the NPC badminton team competing in both singles and doubles. He participated at BCSSA finishing 3rd three consecutive years.
He received the 2007/08 Swimmer of the Year Time off award, taking off 300 seconds each swim season since 2005.
He volunteers with the Brantford Aquatic Club helping teach youth how to swim.
Alex is a dedicated and hardworking student who maintains an A+ average. He plans to future his education as a political science major in undergrad and law and hopes to get a full swim scholarship at a university in the United States.
