Alex is 15 years old and has been playing soccer since he was five; he has competed in track and field since grade four and began playing volleyball in 2003. From 1995 to 2003, Alex played in the Brantford Youth Soccer league, and helped his 2002/2003 team clinch first place in the Under 13 division. In 2004, Alex played on the St. Patrick School's extramural soccer and volleyball teams, placing third in soccer and first in volleyball at the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board's annual tournaments.
Alex played on the SJC junior volleyball team this year as well as the school's track team, competing in discus, shot put and javelin. He won third place at the Assumption College track meet this year, and plans to participate in the same sports again next year.

During his time at St. Patrick School, Alex was involved with many clubs and organizations, including the badminton club, school choir (which placed third at the Kiwanis Festival), chess club, and helped referee games at both SJC and Notre Dame. Alex won the Knights of Columbus Intermediate Remembrance Day Art Contest at both junior and senior competitions, is a three-time winner of the Outstanding Patroller of the Month award, and won the St. Leo's Friendship Chess tournament.
Alex is a dedicated student who pays close attention to his academics, and at his grade eight graduation was awarded the Knights of Columbus Academic Excellence Award and won the 'Top 20% of Gauss Math Contest' in grade seven. He currently maintains an 85 per cent average with his highest marks in science and physical education.
Already looking forward to the future, Alex plans to attend university after high school, and has interests in architecture, engineering, business or computer software programming. He wants to continue playing basketball at SJC and then pursue basketball at the university level.
Alex attributes much of his basketball success to Andrew Peters his basketball coach of five years, who believed in Alex and helped him develop into the player and person that he is today.
Congratulations Alex, and good luck! |
