Aaron Dailey - February 12, 2004
This week's TCO "Athlete of the Week" is Aaron Dailey, a 10-year-old student in grade 5 at Onondaga Brant Public School.
Aaron is a super baseball player: during the summer of 2003, he played with the Brantford Junior Red Sox Major Mosquito team with an on-base average of .630. He succeeded in scoring 45 runs playing centre field and second base. Aaron contributed to a terrific season that saw the team with a record of 48 wins, 8 losses and 2 ties.
In the fall of 2003, Aaron joined the Onondaga-Brant junior three-pitch team and also the Onondaga Brant junior soccer team. His soccer team had a terrific finish to the season and placed second in Brant County.
Aaron's love of sports extends to hockey as he has joined the Brantford Church Hockey League (BCHL) for St. Mark's Atoms house-league team and plays centre for the BCHL Major Atom Saints Select hockey team.
Track and field has also proved to be a well-matched sport for Aaron. During his first year of track and field, this outstanding athlete achieved fantastic results. At the Onondaga Brant track meet, Aaron achieved first place in the junior boys 400m and 800m, and second place in the 100m. At the Pauline Johnson regional track meet, Aaron's skill and athleticism led him to first place in the junior boys 400m, 800m, and 4x100m relay. Gold medals adorned this athlete for the 400m and 4x100m relay, and silver for the 800m at the Brant County track meet.
Aaron is a young, accomplished athlete who demonstrates sportsmanship and leadership in every sport that he plays. His positive attitude and energetic spirit make him a well-liked team member.
This athlete's achievements aren't restricted to sports' accomplishments: Aaron is an A student and has received numerous academic awards at Onondaga-Brant Public School.
