Amber Williams - May 5, 2005
Amber Williams has been competing with the Brantford Youth Boxing Club for the past two years and her record of six wins and one loss makes her one of the toughest fighters in her age category.
In 2003 her debut year, she won gold at the Summerhays Tournament and earlier this year she won her first international match in Niagara Falls, New York. She brought home a gold medal from the Ray McGibbens Gloves tournament and was recently voted the best female cadet boxer.
When she's not in the boxing ring, Amber is participating as a member of her school's wrestling team. She won a silver medal at the Falling Brook Tournament in Mississauga this year and brought home a bronze medal from a tournament in Hagersville. In 2004 Amber won a bronze medal at the Brant County Wrestling Tournament, making her team-mates and coaches at Lansdowne-Costain Public School very proud.
This grade eight student excels at virtually every sport she attempts, and track-and-field is no exception. In 2004 Amber won the 400 and 800-metre races at her school's meet, she then competed at the Regional meet where she won the 400-metre race and finished second in the 800-meter race. Amber competed at the Brant County meet where she won a silver medal in the 800-meter and finished eighth overall in the Brant County cross-country meet.
For the past two years, Amber has been playing on her school's volleyball, soccer and badminton teams. She's an attentive student who stays extra-busy as the secretary on her school's student council.
Amber loves being active, and is a member of a dance troupe called Dance Discovery. She aspires to be a choreographer and back-up dancer in music videos one day, and is looking forward to starting high school this fall.
Congratulations Amber, and good luck! |
